binary file

This is a file which may contain any type of data, that is encoded in binary form for computer storage and processing purposes , it is not a data file. Some binary files contains header which is used by a program of computer to interpret the data in the file. For example, we know that a GIF  file can contain a lot of images, in it headers are used to identify and describe each block of image data. If a binary file does not contain any headers, so it can call a flat binary file.
